Please, Idk how to explain it...:)

Hello, I have to do a journal entry about a Black person for Black History Month. The person I have to do is Bessie Coleman. I have been searching some sites on the web, and have i cannot seem to find a site with reliable information. I have found sites that seem to have inaccurate information. For example, one site said that Bessie Coleman was the 10th of 13 children. Then i found another site that said she was the 12th of 13 children. This is just one example.

Can someone please help me find a reliable site? If not, can you answer some of these questions below:

What were some of her accomplishments?
How did she become interested in airplanes?
How did she become the first black woman to fly an airplane?
What was some hardships she had to deal with?

If you can help with any other information, then that would be great. I only have to write a page worth of handwriting. Short i know, but i want it to be really good. Thank you!
Really, i am just looking for a site that is trusted and reliable!

Women's Day ...?
I was thinking about how we have many holidays respecting men who did amazing things for our country and then I stopped to think about it and realized that there is not one holiday I can think of to support those wonderful women who helped our country too.

Do you realize how many times the US has fallen flat on it's face only to be picked up by us women? Yet do we get an respect?

No, you know what we get? We get mother's day. Oh, but wait ... that is a day for kids to respect their mothers. It doesn't sit there and honor those women.

We have a day for Martin Luther King, but where's our Rosa Parks Day?

We have a day for Abe Lincoln, but where's are Susan B. Anthony Day?

Where's our Bessie Coleman Day?

We sit there respecting all these men when half of them had the support of these strong women. Yet where is their respect? We learn a bit about them here and there, but where is their day?! They are left to linger in the men's shadows.
Does anyone else agree with me?

Add in anything you want to say about it please! I'd love to hear.

-----------

Don't think I'm going against the men's holidays. Keep them, respect them. Those men helped out country out. Yet the women who helped out the country don't even get their own holidays.

I actually heard of some international women's day, but first off, it just puts down the male sex. Also, it does not respect the women who actually deserve it. All of these men have individual holidays and yet women have some holiday that isn't even made into a big deal and everyone knows hardly anything about?
Mc Fly
I never knew that! Women can be fucking bitches and do crimes, but who do you hear of doing more crimes out of the two sexes? Men! Yet we still get no respect. Men caused half of our problems and both men and women fixed them. Yet society only cares about the male's achievements.

You all gave great answers!

ok i know that she was the first african american women to earn her pilots licenes but i need to know what impact did she have upon us today??!!! please help i have a project due tommorrow and i need to know!!!!

I'm doing a project on Bessie Coleman, and I was wondering if anyone knew positive and negative effects of what she did. Also, does anyone know how her actions helped the world and how she contributed to science? I sort of have an idea of it, but I can't seem to back up my ideas. If you don't want to answer (and I see why), then could you just post some kind of source that may answer my question? And if you do have an answer, please list you sources! Thanks.

You know the first African-American to recieve a pilots license?!

A few years back I started taking pilot lessons and was asked , "Who was the first women to fly?" I gave the answer we all know and it was wrong. That was the 1st time I had ever hear Bessie Colemans' name. To my great fortune not only was I told about her I was also given a book (Bessie Coleman Life Story, a postage stamp and news paper clipping) now I try to educate others.

where does bessie coleman live and work

I was just reading a book about African-Americans and I read about Bessie Coleman; (its sad how she died) and it said that when she lost control of the plane, it flipped upside down. The book said that she didn't have on her seatbelt and she flew out of the plane. I immediatly assumed that the top hatch was open and she fell out; but I wasnt sure of planes "back then" had top hatches.

i need from when she was born(and where), what happened to her (or what she did), and i need her accomplishments, AND i need when she died.

A. Betty Crooker
B. Bessie Coleman
C. Correta Scott King
